Tim and Ben, see you both in October, I suppose :-(

Managed to fail Unit 5 (BS 5837), one of two units I felt most confident about that morning. Less confient when I ran out of time, but I guess failing it means something else went wrong, not just the time limit. Have now requested info on how far off I was and what to do in order to receive a marked copy of my paper, so I know what to do differently next year. Very annoyed that I have to wait a whole year.

Ben: Might comfort you slightly: They say pass rate for Unit 5 is always the lowest, the exam itself always perceived as the hardest.

Hi,

I have managed to fail my second re-sit of unit 4,is this a record?

Does anyone know how many re-sits you can have as I have passed all other units but this and it would be a shame to dump the thing at this stage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear you failed your resit shrub, you definately have at least one more go, because the people who have just done it this year will get a resit.

I hope your not going to let it beat you tho, it would be pointless to stop now. try again, you know you can do if you try.

Verena,

Very sorry to hear you failed unit 5.

I was expecting to also but I must have got lucky and scraped it. Overall I got a merit, surprised, relieved and delighted.

Keep at it! I think requesting your paper is definitely the right thing to do. Learn from your mistakes to be as prepared as you can be next time.

Shrub, keep going too. I have met more than a few who have done two resits. As gutting as it must be, make it a new years resolution. I'm sure there will be help on arbtalk from all, I wish I had joined last year!

Verena- if you feel like letting me know the nature of the response from ABC, I might try this tack also...but tbh, there isnt much I couldnt improve on in Unit 5.

I didnt even bother surveying the trees as I knew there would be no time...AND they were denying us marks this year by providing a table which is a doddle and worth 5-6 + marks....!

Also , I felt the they were asking aftyer an unrealistic scenario...would you really go to the lengths of making the site "drain" against the gradient just so what....no dig.! I really thought it was was a bit toy town !

I thought this about the Woodland survey too..."Just imagine these trees aren't here " etc etc...

At last the ABC is able to move forward with the curiculum and hoipefully live up the aspirations they boast about the qual being for those "already working" within the industry....cos I felt like a school child again !

Well done guys pass or fail. Its a hard course i still have cold sweats thinking of the management day and trees and the law paper.

Those who failed don't sit back and think i'll pick it up nearer the time once a week have a quick scan through. You might not read everything but this will keep the important notes fresh in your head and much easier to remember when you re-take comes.
