Woodworm, no i don't need to be earning £1600 per day, i'm investing £160.000 not £500. 000 don't forget, there's a big difference, also with buying secondhand machines you have to go a bit more steady to avoid costly breakdowns and down time, rip and tear to satisfy the bank loans is no good to me. yes i agree the rate is low but that what it takes to get the work around here, some are even 2nd thinning for £9.50 tonne, busy fools or what!!

How many Ton do you load out in a Day on average?

I definately know of at least one contractor in Wales who is on more than £20/tonne, and the going is pretty good with sensible extraction distance. Even if you are investing £160k, you should still be looking to earn good money cos you will need it to replace and hopefully upgrade to a new machine at sometime. You really ought to be producing a minimum of 70 tonne a day, even in 1st thinnings.
