Pottiputki?

Hi all,

I recently got shown one of these, and I want one!

It's a tree-planting tube gadget thing, Finnish apparently (had to be with a name like that!). But I've never seen one in the UK before and also only used it for a few holes.

Does anyone have experience with these? All I've found on 'tinterweb is raving reviews but has anyone on here used one?

And perhaps as important, is there a UK supplier or importer or maker of these things?

a pic..

Thanks, Daniel

Yes they are widely used over here for plug plants of fir or pine, plants suitable are about 20-30 cm high... no broadleafs. Thy are also brilliant for planting bulbs!

Push down the thing, step on handle, drop plug in tube, lift, use foot to tread the plant, move on to next one 3-5000 in a day.... if you are any good!

If I got some imported, would anyone be interested, at say £99.- a piece?

Just a thought, as I go to the civilised world (mainland Europe) a fair few times a year, so may be able to bring some back.

I think they may not be that suitable for myself though, as we're on very heavy clay so to be able to just push the thing in the ground would be quite an achievement, let alone spread it's jaws. It would probably work, but after a lot of rain perhaps.

They work on heavy soils, only problem is treading the plants afterwards...
