The modded one is the US model and the other is tube muffler for Europe (maybe some other coutries too) ,,

Has any one ever ported a 3120XP Husky, we use ours on a mill and a bit more power would help

would it be worth porting a MS180. nice little saw would be awsom to get a bit more power out of it. if so can any one run my roughly through what would need doing

RBtree has done his. As well as the muffler it has been woodsported and kicks out something like 10 horse:scared1:

Patchwork is your 180 carb fully adjustable or is it some type of auto tune carb !?!?

a muffler mod is only a thing to recomend if you have a fully adjustable carb or the saw will over rev and have big chance of dying ,,,,

for cylinder portwork there should be some info on the net ,, racesaws.com is one and chainsawperformance.com is another the last one is down a the moment though ,,,

We have an Alpine stumpy with a 3120xp as the power head. I dont know what type of exhaust they use but it aint a husky one, the noise is louder than the chipper at full wack Usually wakes all the neighbours for about 4 streets away

Yep, I brought my 3120 to the owner Keith's shop, and he fitted his custom design muffler (needed for clearance) and, of course, the AM, to my saw. I've had the AM for 2.5 years now. That's my stock 3120. It's prolly a tad louder than the stock muffler, but nothing like my fully woods modded saw, which has twin 1" front firing ports, which sets fir bark a sparkin', with ease and aplomb!!

 

But I wouldn't want the stumper to be louder. It gets on my nerves, and no doubt, anyone within 14 mile, as it is run constantly......

Perhaps it's in the terminoligy and at the risk of sounding like a wise azz you haven't "ported " the saw .You folks have modified the mufflers .

 

Actual porting of a saw entails much more than just the muffler but in reality reworking a muffler will give you the biggest gains for no money outlayed if you do it yourself . A good place to start .

 

To actually port a saw you need to raise the compression and rework the ports to increase the power something like the pics .

Here's my Husky 350 muffler mod. No port mods........yet.

 

 

Carb 'H' adjustment cam stops trimmed off to allow a more richer mix (very marginal).
