Hi all just got in from the work shop went out there to have a tidy up and looked at the 390 and thought hey lets have a look in side the exhaust:001_smile:there was a baffle with one hole in it. i started here and drilled another one to the right the same size then i had a look at the exhaust exit i made this half as big as the existing one then i welded a bit of pipe to make a port.fired the saw up and thought it sounded like a yz 125, tweeked the carb up and went to the log shed all i can say is it's LOUD and HOLY S**t it's fast through the timber tried it out on some oak which has been down 7 to 8 years :001_smile::001_smile: i dont mean just a small bit of oak, its currently running a 28" bar with LPX chain. Sank it into a butt, it just never died, even had both hands on the back handle at one point. Truely transforms the saw!!! Not sure if i'm going to hear my radio headphones any more :001_cool:

it's nice to get a bit more out of your tools :)

"All" my saws are done and it really makes a difference in power and cutting times !

and as a bonus the engine runs cooler :)

does this not cause stress on the engine ? overheating etc ?

Heat no. With the constriction of the muffler removed it actually reduces the head in the piston/cylinder as the saw can expell the hot waste gases more efficiently.

There is going to be a little more stress on the engine, but not that much, as your are not increasing the rpm thatthe saw is runing at but the torque

so will proting reduce the life of the saw ?

ive been hearing alot about exhaust mods etc for more power and if there are more pros than cons il do it 2 my saw wen i buy 1 or 2 or more :D
