And the other one looked beech like, hence the name Nyssa sylvatica

 

 

 

The specie name "sylvatica" just refers to the fact that they're both woodland trees, not that they look similar to each other. In the same way that the specie name "sativa" means "cultivated by people.:001_smile:

the one from your front garden could be a number of things from that pic, the trees i know with paripinnate leaves are, in order of which i think is most likely in this case

 

Juglans nigra

Rhus typhina

Tonna sinensis

or possibly Sapindus drummondii

 

Just looking at the building site one now:biggrin:
