nope, both wrong! to be honest they are not easy, I know they are not great pics but you have been excellent with the others.

I give some clues, first one - a chinese species with large white bracts that hang down giving it one of its common names.

Second one, a vigorous north american spp, a clue is "you might eat in it your salad"

How did i not get them first time round?:blush:

 

To be honest that Davidia involucrata was a good post without showing the tell-tale fruit and flowers, i just glanced at the leaf without paying attention:biggrin:

 

And the other one looked beech like, hence the name Nyssa sylvatica

Your right with the Davidia involucrata, but the first one is a Magnolia, have a look at the cucumber tree. = Magnolia accuminata .
