Hi, I'm Andy and i'm pretty new to this. I have booked onto a cs 30/31 course in November and slowly sorting out my gear.

Now this is probably dumb, but when buying chainsaw trousers, what size do you get? What I mean is, do you wear them next to your skin, or do you put them over some combats, or do you wear a base layer underneath?

Thanks in advance guys.

They are sized normally mate, so if you are a 32" waist order 32" waist chainsaw trousers.

There are some good suppliers on here who will be happy to advise you (check out the ad banners to the right).

Welcome to Arbtalk mate.

Enjoy the ride!

Depends if he is after chaps or trousers though. I know he said trousers... But I wouldn't want to see some poor unfortunate soul rock up to training looking like he's an extra from a village people music video!

If he's after chaps he has come to the wrong website, surely?

Easiest way to explain is if you buy trousers, you wear them instead of other trousers as opposed to over, and chaps should be worn over other trousers but are not permissible for 30/31 anyway, due to them being Cat A only. TBF, if somebody doesn't realise that chaps need other strides underneath them then I would be concerned about them handling a saw anyway! Don't be tempted to put thermals underneath them either unless you really feel the cold

Thanks for the advice guys. Just to confirm, definitely on about trouser trousers not chaps lol. Had an offer from a mate to lend me chaps but I politely declined (id rather cut my leg off)

Now somebody mentioned not being allowed chaps for 30/31 because of cat A only, does this mean I should get cat C trousers for the course? I was going to get SIP innovation pro's in A.

Also im 30-32" so judging by clarks size guide i'd need smalls?
