Hi !

Has anyone some idea or experiences in preserving standing dead oak tree? Tree died because of insect Ceramyx cerdo and fungi Laetiporus sulphureus. It has more than 2 meters of diameter and now the remaining stamp has cca 10 meters. They want to preserve it's dimension. They want to stop insect and fungi activity. Has anyone a solution?

Thanks for help.

In my opinion that's impossible.

By the way: what's the point in keeping it if you want to stop all insect and fungal activity?

I agree. No point at all. That's all part of the lifecycle of trees. They're not just there for us. Why don't people see the bigger picture? :confused1:

The tree was natural heritage. They want to keep it's remainings as long as possible. Insects and fungi would speed up natural processes. They would like to slow them down. Thats the wish of the owner.

Otherwise I agree with you Gayn.

But anyway, what to do to have this dead stem present for the future?

Its best to leave it to decay naturally as part of the natural life cycle of everything! Standing dead wood is one of the rarest habitats left, due to over zealous tidying up and the litigious world we live in. Just enjoy the woodpeckers, stag beetles, bugs & bats etc that move in while we still have some left!
