not many trees you cant do with just a main climb line and a lanyard/wirecore

I do the same:thumbup1: climbing line and wirecore flipline, the flipline can be a bit heavier than just a normal lanyard but its good for doing the indian rope trick to get it through a fork above you, and you always have the added security of not being able to cut it in half by mistake.

I'd use a flip line aswell. I was thinking having a main line, then say a 15-20m line to use rather than faffing with the other end of your main line.

I saw a large local tree firm using the technique the other day, and just wondered if anyone had any experience of it.

Just get used to living without the second line / other end of your rope, take a short lanyard up instead. I used to use both ends but stopped about 5 years ago, I have probably used two lines twice since then. It is much quicker with one main line and easier too. Just take a bit of time when picking your main anchor and looking at where you are going to go and in what order, you'll find that for 99% of your work you won't need another line.

Using both ends of the rope leaves a loope hanging in the tree to catch everything falling out of the tree, which is the main reason why people use two seperate lines. The downside with two line is there is twice the tangley fun in the tree.

Branch walking is safer with two line as it reduces the chances of big swings.

But at the end of the day is is what you are used to, and what works for you.
