lol - someone was impressed at the sight of the big new holland when it arrived on scene, almost as though they were only expecting the old 135 to make this outing.

You left the perfect size hinge to allow yourself time to get out of the way before the pull over. Tell me, was it the pressure on the line that kept the bar from being pinched on the back cut?

:laugh1: yer me and the guy who got excited really are most sarcastic people you would ever meet and we were joking about them sending us a john deere lawn tractor

the saw was getting pinched a tad but we didnt have much tension on the rope but if anything was doing it the rope would be it.

Having felled it now, do you reckon you could have gotten away with just wedges then?

Also mate, when tractor pulling something like this over, do you have to be spot on accurate with the size of the hinge you leave to avoid possible barber chairing? (Just wondering from a novice perspective).

i still wouldnt have been comfortable felling it without the landy winch or the tractor, it needed some pulling to get it going, im no expert in felling with a tractor or winch but you do risk barber chairs if you pull to much with a to bigger hinge definetly :thumbup1:
