QT, Did your modus operandi change to being more methodical, after this incident, despite the need to earn your bosses the mulah. ?

I didn't tell the boss, but yea, I refused to hold and cut, and have never done since. Made it difficult there, because it slowed things down compared to everyone else, who were happy to cut and hold..I'd be cutting hinges or step cuts, or using a hand saw, and the boss would be below me bellowing at me to start the saw and get on with it, so I ended up being put on the chipper for most jobs. I'd get a climb only once every few months, and that was only if there was nobody else to do it.:mad1:

Very glad to hear it QT.

Get the impression from your post, you've moved on from that company. Good for you.

I am commited to the opinion, that "hold and cut" together with the "collateral damage" attitude, are the very things that continue to handicap our great profession from attaining the status it merits.

How can anyone control a chain saw with one hand, it is impossible and eventually will cause an accident, all for trying to save one minute against making doing the job properly, time can always be saved in other areas of the job buy using good equipment/gear and work as a team ect.

I personaly dont see the need to cut and hold or use a saw one handed, if you are know climbing systems and plan your work you should be able to do the job safely and at a productive pace.IMO
