Stretching my 110.

Has anybody done this to their Landrovers? I have a 110 with an excellent chassis, too good to scrap, and only worth a few hundred second hand, but i want a box behind the cab, or possibly make it into a king cab?

It’s a simple job, the SV 130 is nothing more than a stretched 110

Well this is partly what made me think about it. Until recently ALL 130s were just stretched 110s. I have mates who cut and reweld land rovers for off roading and what have you with no ill effects, and TBH if all i have to do is that, extend the fuel lines and loom and get a new prop then happy days.

I looked in to streching a nissan patrol found lots of websites in OZ about streching 4x4s, seems simple enough take body off, cut chassis infront of rear suspension mounts, weld in what ever length of extra chassis you want, flitch plates welded either side, longer prop, hand brake cables and fuel lines and lengthen the wiring looms . simple !

Haha- no i think a 3.25 cubic metre chip box is enough for any 4x4!

Just a thought Tom but how about a purpose built roof box? With some integral ladders built on the sides just behind the doors, you could get a fair bit in 14" high box and in terms of it affecting the handling... well with that chip bin on her I don't suppose she corners like a lotus anyway.

 

It would be a whole lot easier and cheaper, and easy to swap to another landy if you bought one.

I had thought about that. Stil not made up my mind. I already have the roofrack over the cab, but i hate climbing up and down TBH. Mind you, 14" high, as you say, you could get a whole load of gear in it, and it woud be dry. Hmmmm, food for thought.
