User Experience ofCat d4 /d6 for timber extraction

I would like to hear from anyone who has any experience of using a Caterpillar D4or D6( fitted with winch on the back H,D brush fork on front) for timber extraction, on extremely steep banks consisting of clay soil with the odd spring flowing.4 w.d Tractor useless after the ground gets skiddy.

Depends on extraction direction uphill/down Hill.

 

Wether you have a wheeled Arch or are dragging the Loggs Flat behind.

 

How big the Timber is and wether you are restricted to pulling to a Track or if you can drive where you please.

 

Either of the two Dozers are commonly used for Timber Extraction,the D4 being faster and more nimble, weighs less so it won't pug up the Clay to much.

 

Either way,stay out of the Spings :001_smile:
