Hi John

If it is in southern england below Oxford, you will need to contact Scottish Southern Energy First bit unsure which number to use but i can find out tomorrow for you.

Shutdowns can take some time to set up or get through the system 6 weeks +, Is it HV or LV conductors?

You will need to know exact location of span you wish to be shutdown if you have a Pole Mounted Transformer on the line this would help alot they all have names on the poles they are mounted to.

Address and postcode would also be needed and i think i am right in thinking you would need someone with a C1,C2 or A qualification on site to recieve the shutdown document , unless SSE can provide this.

I'm still waiting, going on for six months since I started looking into it and 4 months waiting for the actual shutdown.

Never again, next time I'll leave it to some other mug

I am not surprised Dean for some reason best known to them it is a massive task to set these up , yea customers have to be told and plans for staff and possible chance of redirecting power from another source but 6 months + these comps need more people organising these things.

O.k John i will have a look tomorrow for you in regard to numbers

P.S John is it`s not possible to do this Live?

possibly...going back to have a better look this weekend, didnt get there till about 630.its a small part of a large job.so the rest can be done and its not an issue if it takes a while to set up

Often the electric company's prefer to do it themselves that is why then can drag there feet with permits.

They will also do the job free for the customer.

They are now hiring direct staff for tree work, no more line clearance contracts is what I hear for this region anyway. A load of staff left Bartletts to go and work for them.

A step up from bartletts is power line work!! Ha ha

but will they do the best job.i was given the job because of my reputation.also the job is more involved than just a bit of line clearance

:scared1:ofcourse we would !!!!!!

You are quiet right John SSE would go there and cut what is neccesary to give as good a clearance as they can get from the lines, this would very rarely involve thinning the whole crown.

As for moving from Bartletts to power line clearance , in the eyes of the lads they have gained in income.
