Hi guys,

A few pictures to look at.

Pic 1 + 2 Found on dead beech stem. Any idea of ID?

Pic 3, 4 + 5 Ganoderma sp. Is the bracket small because of the small host (small log) Surely its not young because it has several stages of growth:confused1:

Pic 6, 7 + 8 Bracket found on Q rubra. No idea of ident. Anybody know?

Pic 9 Small growth that always seems to be on beech stems. not fungi obviusly but just wondered if it had a name/significance?

Pic 9 Oak Gall ID? I was told what it was but forgot and cant find it anywhere!

Nick

First one looks to me like a part desicated Polyporus squasmosus

Second is a Gano, first inkling could be applanatum

On the old log looks like another guano but can't be sure without more pics

On the oak it seems like you've got Hamas favourite Grifola frondosa - hen of the woods and also the little mushrooms next the the stem in the first shot of that is Collybia fusipes, looking at the basal swelling of that oak it is certainly trying to fight

brilliant help as always guys cheers!

I got mixed up with two of the pictures. I meant to attatch another picture (below) for the first 'pic 9' on my above list.

for the capture of this image I salute you:thumbup1:

thats the coolest thing ive seen this year besides hericium cirrhatus!

Was it robarb or RobRainford looking at restoration pruning? I think he needs to see this and have a good think about its implications, for also making natural braces.

staple a growth back to a stem and watch the woundwood swallow the staple and in time embrace the shoot!

cool as a glaciers mint
