The oil in the sump lubes the bottom end and valves, your two stroke will just lay in the bore so listen to Barrie:thumbup:

 

 

Haha I wasn't completely serious

 

It's never been used, no one was even expecting it to run, and all we had was saw mix. I imagine we'll get some unleaded for it at some point. Then again, maybe not!

Strangely I did have a machine in a few years ago with no oil at all in the sump, so I told the customer that he may want to reconsider spending on a service as there was a fair chance of imminent con rod failure due to running with no oil.

 

His reply was that it was 2 stroke and that he had never put oil in the sump from new and had run it for 6 seasons on 2 stroke with no problem so why change now.

 

Unbelievable but true! (By coincidence his name was Joe too)

It's a gem of a saw mate, real proof that your well worth the money. That saw was like a stray mutt when it came to you!

 

Still got that stalling after a cut thing going on though. When I come to pick up the 66 I might leave it with you again :biggrin:

OK, did I put a Zama carb on it? I think I did from memory but am not 100%? If it has one then try a new spark plug and then drop it in if no good and will do a pressure check and carb overhaul. Also make sure the filter is still on the end of the fuel line.

Wilko.

 

From memory I ordered a couple of carbs from L&S as they were a got price. One for the saw and the other for you to cover your labour. It would have been Zama or Walbro for sure, I'll check.

 

I'll do the above and if no good I'll bring it to you. To be honest nowadays I'd rather pay you and be sure of a good result than try myself and always be a bit uncertain.

 

It's only really an issue when I'm climbing and have the saw idling for a minute or so between cuts.
