Thank's for that piece of info spudulike.

I see the idea with the object in your picture. Save weight in the crank itself but fill in the void with a lightweight plate. Good pick-up and plenty of power.

Yes - they are generally known as stuffers and inrease transfer velocity by decreasing crankcase volume - an idea taken off racing two strokes but carried forward to Huskys later saws, this pic was of my 357XP - one of the first saws that I know stuffers were used on!

spud got a hedge hedge cutter that needs some attention i have asked burrell if he will bring to yours next time hes over if thats ok

No problems Nifty, I think he is planning a visit at some stage - got some parts he needs and he wants a 024 pot ported - if it doesn't need too much, may be able to do it while he waits but may need a bit more of a going over.

Thought I'd join in on this topic as I was given 2 x 200Ts. Both were non runners, one because it was launched in anger at a tree by the previous owner.

Anyway, £18 later (new chain brake lever) I have one working saw and pieces of another. I'll be repairing the second one soon.

But I do have a question, the fixed one idles too fast. How do I slow the revs?

Do as Rich says, adjust the idle down so the saw idles evenly and the chain doesn't spin. If there is any hessitation on pickup or it holds on to revs when the throttle is snapped shut then you may have an airleak.

The inlet manifold, impulse and crank seals are all possible areas of concern with the crank seals being the most common issue IMO - you will only find these problems with pressure and vacuum testing.

Best thing to do for the normal user is to settle the idle and then see how the saw responds - the L and H screw need to be 1 turn out each but the H screw will generally have a limit cap on it so won't be able to adjust easily.

Ok busy day today with lifeboat and shopping. So got on the bench at 6.30pm. Just got in.

First was the stiga hedge cutter. Yes I done the recoil. More on that in a min.

Next was the ryobi. What a stupid design of engine. But it's stripped and new pump in place. Turned by hand and started oiling. Just need to rebuild the rest of the saw. Have I said what a stupid design it was. :001_rolleyes:

So the recoil. Well after much research on youtube and knocking some ideas about I found one that works. This guy is a genius. He has two videos up for those interested where he replaces the zip tie with a can. It really does work and is much easier. I managed to wind it up on my own but another pair of hands would have been easier to bash the nail in at the end.

Here is another way Rich

Now Barrie. Where have I seen that bench before. The voice sounds very familiar aswell.

I would have loved to have been able to do it that way I really would. It needed to be that size of housing yet the spring was four times the length of that one. Really wish I had got some pics of it.

Yours would all be upside down Rich:lol:

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Or it would be full of swearing. Apparantly I have a foul mouth sometimes.:lol:

But then you also wouldn't be able to see what I was doing because of the junk spread across the bench.:lol:

Just getting in there before anyone else wants to start. :001_tt2::001_tt2:
