What's on your bench today?

Looks like it is just part of the combustion chamber - I sold my TD18 powered strimmers a year or two ago - nice bits of kit! They usually have a reasonable turn of power - enough for normal garden strimming!

 

What's the compression like - these engines are generally pretty tough but the coils are not so good as I have had a couple be the culprits of non running machines:thumbdown:

TBH, the straight shaft versions of these strimmers are damn fine and far better than the modern stuff coming out of many factorys - just sorted a Komatsu powered Allen 22 - had a blown coil so replaced it with one of an MS200:blushing:

 

Works fine

 

try spinning the strimmer spool and it should be free moving - if it isn't then you are probably right and it will need a flush and grease.

 

It should have plenty of go - The ones that I have had have been fine and will keep the Allen as I like it and will sell my McCulloch one as it isn't a patch on it!

Sharpened the usuall array of hedge cutters, mower blades today.

 

Also got the parts for humpty today aswell. Now running nice again. No exhaust mod this time tho.

 

And all clear for the weekend.

 

Machine driving this weekend. Loading one end and clearing the other of a concrete crusher. So my backside will be planted on a 360 for two days doing over 12 hour shifts.

 

Got to love big machines. Picks will follow.

Aftermarket muffler and top cover arrived from china today, actually good quality stuff! The cover actually does direct air over the cylinder mike, now just waiting for the air filter from the uk, the carb to filter boot from Germany, and a gasket from stihl! Amazing how Chinese economy delivery is faster than 1st class from uk or Germany!

Had fun with the Husky 350 today, very slight air leak but the pressure check was OK - traced it down to the upper crankcase - strange design on this saw - not a typical clam design but is a horizontally split crankcase.

 

Now sealed and seems to run and idle OK now!

On my bench along side a pool of tears is my 011. Just fitted your flywheel and fired it up - forgot the oil pump was off the other side - so after a lot of pulling it fired but started screaming i guess because the oil pump vents direct to crankcase. Was a bit slow to react - running for a screwdriver instead of shutting it down - end result my first diy scored piston and some horrible grinding sound from the big end bearings? anyway If it's not too horrendous when I open it up could well be my first piston change.

Had one of those on the bench today as well.

Was told it suddenly became hard to pull the starter.

Turned out he had taken the clutch cover off with the chainbrake on and then forced it back on trapping the brake band against the clutch, result, very hard to start, one knackered chainbrake handle and one knackered brake band.

Seriously though, I have been very busy of late with an unusual amount of two strokes for the time of year, but mostly mundane stuff not worthy of a mention here.
