What's on your bench today?

Cheers spud. I've looked everywhere I can without removing the handles and everything else.

I've checked the parts lists and diagrams I have. Looks like that number is just called a valve. It's in the area under the throttle control rod and earth short connections under the air box.

Will have a good nose.

Oh and I love the 048, for some reason its just one of those saws that I absolutly love. Don't mind the weight and reckon I could use it all day long no problems.

A heavy bugger yes, but what a beast.

It is the same one as on the 026 and others, aluminium with an O ring around it and small hole in the middle which is a one way valve - looks to be near the recoil side airbox cover mounting screw or possibly pushed in to the handle in the gap between the handle and recoil cover but less likely!

Ok. Will have a good look over it tomoz.

Didn't want to take the saw apart to try and find it today so thought I would ask. Found everything except where this stupid oil tank breather is.

That's the 051 version (looks bigger in pic than it actually is) They live on top the crankcase on them.

Im sure you will find the 048 flatter and prob all plastic.

Bugger, just relised that's not it. That's the fuel tank one. The fuel tank is above the oil tank on these (as you know).

So that one being up that high will be for fuel tank not oil tank.

But saying that there is a vent inserts and such like things on the front.

Part number 1117 350 5800

This is getting confusing now. Will check both out tomoz. Getting a headache now. :laugh1:

The fuel tank vent is a short pipe with two grub screws inserted in to it. That one is the oil tank vent or at least it will be on an 048 - it probably has a through hole through to the oil tank!

With you. Have seen those vents before. Don't like them either.

The one you gave me on part number is the fuel tank vent. As I thought.

The long pipe looks like it goes down recoil side of the saw.

Cheers people.

Ok thanks. I did use a thinner motorcycle clip rather than an actual jubilee clip. Maybe I should've used the old trick of spraying a bit of hairspray on It first to help sealing.

Should be able to spray around it with some wd40 or similar to check any idle difference which should work shouldn't it?

It should do - one good reason why I pressure and vac test but difficult to do for the general owner to do.

I've had straight fixes all day bud. Really easy ones to start. This one I intentionally left to the end. :001_tt2::001_tt2:

Yeah your right by the way. Fuel vent is the pipe with grub screws in it. Oil is the small one.

It's just not giving out oil. Loosen the cap and it does come out. Not as much as it should but then the saw is on its side with the cap off.

Hey if they where all easy what would be the point on coming on here and annoying you. Like to think I'm not the only one that will be up all night thinking about why a saw doesn't work like it should. :001_tt2::lol::lol::lol:

Could be worse. I could sound like this.....

Isn't Aspen a breakfast cereal....Oh sorry, thats Alpen:lol:

Not sure of the build on this pump but there is one trick I know that may help but that will come after you have gone through all the normal checks on the pipes, filter, worm drive etc

What am I up to....recovering from a bit of a medical glitch and two conversions to..............Aspen:thumbup:

Everything is fine other than the breather. That I have yet to check. I know th slump is ok as it pumps when the cap is open. Just not getting enough oil to it. Take the pump off and next to nothing comes through to where the pump should be. Yet the filter is clean. May remove the filter for a further test.

Think I know the one trick over the pump already.
