Straight up, the poplars i've seen are all dangerous. As its outside your house fell it - if not demolish your house and all your neighbours, plant some more and find some nice to but up your feet:lol:

why not fell it, and plant a nice oak and a lime instead?

 

poplar's are a bane around me - and only good for matches

with the exception being true P. nigras, there is a neat identification for true p.nigra, spiral galls on the petiole:thumbup1:

 

I believe there are two black tiny dots on iether side of the petiole at the lumina base too

I know its a rare tree the Populus nigra 'betulafolia', or as its commonly known ' the manchester pop' but there are still quite a few in and around salford, proper gnarly ones too, even felled one a while back .

 

The really old ones are an awesome sight to behold but awful to climb:lol:
