Hedgecutter sharpening

Can anybody offer some advice on sharpening/adjusting hedge cutters? I've kept my Tanaka THT 2520S for "finer" work only but the cut is beginning to deteriorate recently. Is this something i can undertake myself or should I hand over to my local agent that will no doubt rob me for the privilege.

flash a grinder over the cutters, dont go to heavy handed tho else you could distort the bar, just one pass ,fine adjustment is tricky, start at one end then check and re adjust as you go down the length of the cutter bar, just get them to nip, end of bar is always the hardest to get right

Take them apart first so you can do the job properly and clean out where the sliders are, use a sandpaper flapper wheel on a 4 or 5 inch grinder and make sure you remove any burr's afterwards. Been doing mine for years like this. Takes about an hour and a half to do the job properly. When you put them back together after cleaning put some light machine oil between the cutters.
