I never thought to check the pressure tbh, I will tomorrow thanks :)

yes this thread has been derailed but when it comes down to the life of a young guy then I will except my telling from the boss of this forum . We all learn from our closest care giver but that doesn't make them right. Liam is not his grandad, he is himself and needs to be willing to take on board what others say, he might not be as good , carefull or as lucky so a simple purchase of ballistics will reduce his risk massively .

I made my comment out of concern. :)

It's a pretty simple choice in my opinion.

Chainsaws are dangerous, and can inflict serious, and in some instances life threatening injuries.

There is an enormous range of comfortable, practical and durable PPE that will significantly reduce the risk of chainsaw operation at minimal cost (when compared to lost earnings from injury).

I'm not saying that I don't occasionally do the odd cross cut without ballistics, but to me the choice is pretty clear. Just because one's granddad has managed to escape injury without PPE, doesn't excuse one's choice to eschew it personally.

No problem here with how people choose to work, but I wouldn't put pictures up of me doing it.

Monkey see, monkey do, and I wouldn't want a young lad gashing his leg because he'd seen me cutting in my Speedos and thought it was OK.

For the record, I've never even nicked my chainsaw trousers, but two lads I've been working with have been saved from very serious cuts by them.
