ANOTHER Fungi on Yew

Not very good images I'm afraid, they're from my blackberry

Found these Ganoderm brackets on a Yew in my parents Churchyard in Norfolk yesterday.

I didn't really have time to study them at length & took no sample.

My 'gut' feeling is that these are possibly G. resinaceum or G. lucidum as opposed to G. carnosum.

Obviously scienctific examination would be needed to determine species.

I will take a small sample of the bracket and as advised by Will,

Send it to me and we can Identify it at the botanics:thumbup1: I will pass it on to a profesional. They would be interested in it for the herbarium as our specimen is quite old. I think the best way to send it would be the whole bracket.

Did you guys ever get anything back from the hebarium at RBGE ?

David,

According to Ryvarden & Gilbertson, G. resinaceum has not been documented from coniferous trees (yet).
