Ifor Williams trailers---hydraulic pump

I was tipping some chip off today when suddenly the pump packed up, luckily it was nearly all the way up.

 

Battery good

Solenoid working- can hear it clicking in and out

Insulator switch working

All connections are sound

 

Went to my local dealer they said I need a new pump

£££££££ 385 + VAT

Vat

 

Holy moly

 

Anyone know where I can get a better deal ??

 

Oh and on the new pumps they have a different plug to the older models so you have to buy that as well.....

 

I am gutted as I am not even vat registered and living on the bread line.

Can you hear the motor run?

probly wont help, especially if uv aready checked, but ours stops working interminantly beacuse the cable gets pulled out of the plug / remote control, a simple push in gets it going again, just a simple idea to try before you part with your cash!

The motor just stops and then the solenoid just clicks when you press the button.

Might be possible to source new motor and fit it to existing powerpack. Any info on the motor itself?

I think I will take it off tomorrow and have a good look. Cheers for that.

The motor is not much more than a starter motor, check all the contacts, if that fails take it to an auto electrician and get the motor checked out.

 

It’s unlikely to be the pump.

That's what I think. Sounds like your dealer wants to sell you a whole new powerpack.

Solenoids on my winch packed in . when operated solenoids make a ticking noise . Maybe your hearing this noise and mistaking it for the solenoids working noise? Maybe your switch why not try to bypass it
