Ok, can't hold back any longer and this thread needs a gentle bump as there's only 10 days to go.

 

So, come on you aspiring Baileys, get your hardware out and start clicking "tis the season ......... don't ya know"

 

Numero uno is I believe a developing Ganoderma resinaceum "Lacquered Bracket" here on a Red Oak.

 

Numero dos is a Lycoperdon perlatum "Common Puffball"

 

Numero tres was going to be a nice little baby Laetiporus, but as a reflection of it's prevalance this year,

there's a good few already posted.

 

So i've gone for this Phallus impudicus "Stink Horn" very aptly named btw

Here in it's one day of "erection" and in the process of having the spores dispersed by an unfriendly host of 'orrid little flies.

They gave me this one oportunity to click,

before exploding into life and hightailing it straight toward me bonce

Here are my efforts. They aren’t this seasons but decent pics non the less

 

This is a 2 for one pathogen deal with Dryads saddle and bleeding canker.

 

 

This is less obvious it’s not a conspicuous pathogen and it doesn’t go in for big sporophores. You are looking at the material effects of Venturia. The shepherds crook in the petiole is the classic symptom The healthy leaves are the second crop of the year and aren’t yet symptomatic. It’s currently ripping through the remains of the black Pops (F1 clones) in the North West. Brought me a lot of work.
