My tree plantations are planted all around my house ( literally outside the front/back door ) so it takes less than a minute to walk to work. Couldnt resist it, sorry...

Where I work we are limited to 11 hours a day due to drivers duty hours It's not much of an issue but do wonder how small firms cope with this ??? If there covering long distance for daily work.

We regularly travel up to two and a half hours each way for individual day jobs, but for longer jobs; we go up to two hours drive and then look for digs.

If we limited ourselves to within one hours travel we'd be limiting our work by a serious margin..

Same here - but then that's the Highlands for you!

I look after 700ha about 3 mins drive from my door. I can lie in my hammock in the lime trees beside the house with a beer and watch the sunset over it after a days graft :001_cool:

At the other extreme I was on Skye working last week - 4hrs there in the morning and 4 hrs home again the next day! Money was good though, couldn't say no.

If the numbers stack up i'll always travel for work, plus it's good craic to get the truck tooled up and head off for a couple of days somewhere new.
