Yep - and certainly not by us. We can't possibly generate anything but anecdotal half truths.

 

By us? what do you mean, why cant WE do the work? and why if we did would it be considered anecdotal?

 

besides anecdotal work is the basis of further refinement in the first place, it has to start somewhere does it not?

Indeed it does, but it would be a woeful end goal don't you think?

 

This is no longer the era of the Victorian naturalist. The framework of useful investigation and the scaffold of science is already built - proper externally reviewed trials are needed.

 

Just consider what you would need to do to ensure that your results were statistically relevant to the wider population. A couple of trees in a couple of locations with a couple of treatments just won't do it.

If I tried it and it worked, i woukld do it again, and again, and again, and if some science geek told me my results counted for nothing I would laugh in his face.

Agreed. and as gerrit said much (expensive) in vivo work under clinical conditions would need to be done to clarify such anecdotal trials.

Just looking at this arborjet system online - looks very like this one although maybe the micron one can't achieve the same pressure? But for the money... might be worth a punt

Clients are starting to do their own research into injection against C.f. is this a reality, so soon? That injection can work on a disease that only just arrived here?

Is injection maybe going to be counter productive long term? By preventing the disease now or inhibiting it, how will nature evolve a resistance? I can understand in the case of DED, as we only have a small number of pockets of Elms left, and they need the zoo like status of protection give to say a Panda to prevent extinction. I'm just asking the question, not arguing for or against it.
