Really good kit, But a little bit expensive when you taking into consideration that you need to replace celox etc every 2 years.

I bought my own arb kit. went online and sourced all the celox plasters and bandages i need and made up my own.

regarding the first aid courses for arbaid i think its a great idea if you have the money. the basic first aid courses don't cut it..tree workers need intense first aid training if they are going to make a difference.

Is your thinking that this is expensive for a kit to kick under the van seat, or that its worth the money? I'm genuinely interested in others thoughts here.

I guess it all depends on whether you have the resources and time to assemble the necessary contents yourself. We bought excellent aluminium first aid boxes and contents directly from a supplier - although we haven,t aided in the cellox yet although we do have a similar spray (aglinate something?) which is amazing at stopping blood and have used it myself on myself with great success. But if you don't have the time or interest in assembling the contents yourself the Arb Aid kit is excellent.

Honestly the kit is only expensive until the day you need its main contents and then like mastercard it's priceless!

Good idea, I was watching the aerial rescue at the Arb show and as good as it was I couldn't help but feel that a more realistic demonstration could be performed with running saws, chippers, a little screaming and a couple of buckets of blood thrown around to provide a little Shock value as Shock is something that we can all suffer and it's suprising how debilitating it can be.

Im sure any children that happend to see this go on would be having nighmares for years to come :001_rolleyes:

t does no harm to re-visit topics, accidents still happen, and as proven by a recent incident, training is still as important.

As far as shows go, companies go to great lengths to promote their products, this is another product that is probably the most important piece of kit you can carry in the truck, but will earn you the least money. I think a demo with prosthetics will enhance awareness.

a climbers saw 400plus, save a life, 300?

no brainer guys, but really, if your going to go to this level, you also want to be doing SERIOUS rescue station and planning, and I dont mean the usual set up! I mean PROPER planned and pre determined/set up arrangments which will seem a chore/bore until that day when you need them.

the bonus being you may be able to ring the lad/lass spouse and say, he/she is in hospital but WILL be home eventually! if a litle later than expected.

It will also prove that your first aid/rescue situation is well managed and catered for, beyond the legal limit, and of all the things we are told to do, surely this area is one we must not grumble about?

Celox saved a kids life last week it was in the papers, a lad slipped on his spike and nigh on cut his head off, celox saved his life.

Have a chat to Ranger Matt his Dad is a Paramedic :001_smile:

LOL. Was waiting for a comment like that. Most of the trauma kit that he has is in the ArbAid kit. Unfortunately he cant order loads of stuff in and disperse it at will. He has had to go to incidents involving tree surgeons from anything from a broken wrist to a laceration on the upper thigh.

We invest in proper first aid training. The latest course was through a group that do battle first aid. We also do regular aerial rescue to help the guys react in an emergency. Cellox doesn't mean alot if you're not trained to use it. The ability to improvise and a good understanding of what you can do to preserve life will get you through most situations.

I can do first aid with knowledge and the flat of my hand. First aid is just that, first aid.

Our guys held a woman together, involved in a car accident, until the ambulance arrived. The police and fire service left them to it. Blood everywhere. She called us 3 days later to say thanks and did we want all the t-shirts and sweatshirts back that had been used to stem the bloodflow.
