based in North London at Hampstead Heath.

 

 

Senior Arborist

Salary £27,510 - £29,690 p.a. inc.

depending on experience/performance

 

The Corporation of London is the local authority for the commercial and

financial heart of Britain – The City of London. In addition, the Corporation

has responsibilities that stretch far beyond the confines of the “Square

Mile”. These include the ownership and management of over 4000 hectares

of London’s prime open space, of which Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood

and Queens Park cover 315 hectares.

 

This existing post offers a first class opportunity for an experienced,

enthusiastic and highly motivated professional to join a team who are

responsible for the care and conservation of all the trees in this diverse

and very special open space.

 

You will have demonstrative industry experience including team leadership

as well as advanced climbing & rigging and tree inventory systems.

Looking for an experienced person to lead the team & assist me in running the day to day aspects of the team.

Here's the main points....

 

Technical Skills / Professional Qualifications / Relevant Education & Training

• National Diploma or National Certificate in Arboriculture or equivalent (level 3)

• Full clean UK driving licence

• Required NPTC CS units 30, 31, 32, 38, 39, 41 & 47.

• Advanced climbing & rigging experience

• Aerial rescue & First Aid + knowledge of casualty rescue

• Tree inventory system experience

• Traffic Management

 

 

Experience Required

• Demonstrative experience of trees works, within public open spaces, thorough use and control of appropriate equipment, plant and materials.

• Experience of deploying and supervising staff to achieve agreed deadlines.

• Experience of implementing Health & Safety policies for tree team and other teams involved in tree management within the division

• Knowledge and experience in current and emerging best practise in Ecological Arboriculture

• Experience of carrying out tree inspections and imputing tree inspection data e.g. Arbortrac

• Experience of tree risk management, involving prioritising works according to risk level and target methodology

• Experience of veteran trees management,

• Good working knowledge of ecology, bats, invertebrates

It sounds like an excellent opportunity for the right candidate, working in some hugely interesting locations. Whenever I think about David's work, the picture of the bridge over the lily covered lake springs to mind. As much as I dislike cities, it would be a pretty stunning place to work!
