Maple with Polyporus squamosus - (Dryads sadlle) & a nice rack of Ganoderma applanatums.

 

 

Really supprised to still see Dryads saddle still fruiting this late.

You can break the the top surface with your thumb nail on applanatum, and not on adspersum.

 

There is quite often nipple galls on the underside of applanatum, and not on adspersum.

 

From observation, applanatum appears to have a thinner margin.

 

Also, I belieive that applanatum is more often associated with dysfunctioning/dead wood, as opposed to adspersum.

But this is the preverbial can of worms.

 

So ya didn't hear that here, right ?

I just have to say some great pictures...and i'm more then rocked monkeyd, man i miss consultancy...was fantastic at this time of year plodding around looking (and most importantly) eating lots of fungi...since i have moved back to plain old tree climbing all i seem to see now is crown thin, crown reduce, crown lift, you catch my drift!!

 

So thanks for that Monkeyd...
