some of the older patu (now kelsa) heads would be realtivilt cheaper, think that there are some that weigh around the 500kg mark, which worked well on tractors with roof mounts

Didn't think of Kelsa. Well i did but i've never seen or used one so i couldn't comment on one.

i have never used one of their harvester heads, but we do have 2 patu cranes and a stroke delimber on the 3 point linkage and for the money their equipment is very good!

Many heads mentioned in previous threads will fit on an 8tonne machine but the problem will be with power and oil flow. The 14tonne machines that Wilsons use for the harvadig are ok but you wouldn't want any less power than they have. Personally, I feel you would be wasting alot of money if you went for that kind of set up.

yeah I understand your view about the power / wasted money if the machine was straight in to the forestry industry. But im not new to the world of hydraulics and it was a simple modification to make the excavator powerful enough, i have also never wasted any company money on machinery thats doesn't pay v.good returns,
