bob, i climbed on metal for 8 years before i finally decided on giving a rope one a try for pruning work. i slowly started using it for more and more including takedowns. now my flipline stays in the truck and only comes out when i have a lot of spiking to do up bigger trees

think ive got new hitch setup, its a twist on the vt but ive changed the wraps somewhat.3 wraps around the rope then one x around the rope, then 1 x on itself and 1 around the rope again .ill post a pic tomorrow, itll be a lot easier.

it seems a bit of gear to carry but it all gets used so its all useful.

Hi steve here is the pic as promised. Works really well for me on this setup but ive had good results on other 13mm rope as wll. It will be interesting to see what you think of it, i found the ocean poly to stiff though. ill post some pics of the redirect as well for you, 2 variations-one tech retrieves the cambium saver and the redirect-good for the last branch and 1tech retrieves the redirect but leaves the cambium saver in.again, pics make it ez.

nice forum by the way, heaps better than treebuzz.

thats how i do it too...this way though the groundy can pull the saw back up the tree for you

it can be used for ariel rescue to if the casualty is in a bad position go down and just like the saw connect to him then assend to a good spot and apply a seond anchor or stropp the groundies will raise the casualty to you
