“They’ve not been coppiced, there’s nothing left but stumps" Just about sums it up. People who think they know, and don't. Write a letter to the paper, as Andy say.

Then file it under "Why the public as useless" and start again.

Pollarding - Hard pruning involving the removal of all or nearly all of a trees branches, should be avoided on most species. The main exception being willows.

Just having a quick nose through your website and came across the above, can you explain that a bit? I've always been taught that pollarding when done properly is a perfectly good thing to do :confused1:

"Those trees were more than 70-years-old and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them."

“Those trees will take 30-40 years to get to anything like they were before they were chopped down.

so...30 years or 70?

I hate that! I've always had a dislike for articles in the media which makes the lot of us sound like cowboys!

I'm sure they would have made a similar story if they hadn't been felled and they landed on a building!

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
