Looks to me like a hand saw cut as well but with all the effort you would need to cut through that trunk with a hand saw, these kids must have been on more than buckfast!!

Be on the lookout for kids with wild staring eyes and a strong urge to fly plus a heavy musky sweat smell...

It looks like a handsaw finish but it doesnt add up to me when you look at the butt of the stem once its over and i would of thought an Alder with all the weight on 1 side, with a good lean like you would expect off a coppice would of barbers chaired will before it did.:confused1:

If it was a handsaw then the person was good with it:laugh1:

When I was a kid I did exactly the same, with a bowsaw. We went into the local woods and felled several trees. It was purely for the buzz of seeing and hearing them come over.

 

We got caught some time later and I ended up in court. Lesson learned.

 

Funny how I ended up as a tree surgeon though.

 

This kid could well end up as one of us.

 

 

 

 

Mine did have gobs though.
