Wasn't going to post this up as it didn't turn out as well as we hoped it would.

 

Didn't get a pic of the tree before we started but took a few during tea and cake breaks...

 

It was touching the garage roof and the house to the right, was right down to the pavement edge and had been repeatedly hacked to bits for pedestrians to get past etc.

 

It had been topped before in years gone by and was all over the place tbh...we did our best in conjunction with what was possible and what the customer wanted.

 

Traffic lights out by 10am immediately followed by first tea and cake break

 

enough excuses...on with the pics..

 

raise and reduce yew tree, clearing away from buildings and footpath.

tbh, had high hopes it would look smart when we priced it, looks ok and will grow back fine, but flat top view from the house was unavoidable..

Once it thickens up, I think the shape will look quite effective set against the buildings, particularly if it's managed as a kind of informal sculptural cushion topiary thing.

sometimes it's just beyond even a super arb to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. You can only work with the canvas you are presented with.

 

Given time, it should look well.

thanks dean...I hope they keep us in mind for next time, pretty sure they will...wants a mewp and hedge trimmer over the next few years and sculpt it into something more aesthetically pleasing and manageable.
