Hello all im new to arbtalk and have been reading through old threads to find out about the tech cert online course and which is the best way to go.

Have applied to myerscough and then just read that they stitch you up with the curriculum and exams!! But then that thread was a couple of years old i think. Does anyone know if they have sorted themself out?

Also spoke to treelife a while ago but then found out they charge about 3 time as much as myerscough which i can't afford sadly as i have only heard great things about them!

Also read the course can be done all by yourself with the right reading material, available past papers and enough dedication. Can anyone help me on this subject would appreciate any response massively!

thanks duncan

I'd say try treelife if you can, they operate 1 day a fortnight courses, so not much time off work (holiday?), also, I think they are cheaper than the home study they offer.

On another note, the tech cert is being replaced, again, call and chat to treelife, they will fill you in. I can't comment on others, as I haven't used them! Good luck :)

I went with Andy and Dave at Treelife and can give them a 10/10 for delivering the course. They were much better than any college i've been to as well. It might cost more but they are both well known within the industry, Andy for his expertise in report writing and plant biology and Dave Dawson well google him and you'll find he's helped write some arb books.

Ditto the above.

They are offering an opportunity for student sponsorship at the moment. I think you have to write a bid explaining why you deserve it. Definitely worth a shot to help with the cost.

I studied with Treelife and have to say the way they delivered, supported and assisted outside of tutor time was excellent. Worth the money in my view. Oh I would recommend the Westonbirt option as you get 1-on-1 time, review periods, appraisal and hands on work in an environment full of trees to go and practice on when you have 'down time'
