Beech is superb as long as you don't let it rot and dry it well. Also, don't leave those lumps in the shed for a year or you'll be logging them up with the chainsaw. I had a stack of rounds last year which were dry as a bone but an absolute swine to split. Ended up with nice square logs!

Beech every time over ash. Ok ash burns green....big deal. It burns fast when dry. Beech gives out shed loads of heat when dry and doesnt burn too fast. Almost the best logs you can get IMO.

HI tommer your right there mate thats what we used all winter on our 16kw eruo heat stove if you used ash you will have too get dave:lol: too full up the stove all night :lol: beech is the best when seasoned jon :thumbup::thumbup:

From a firewood merchant point view, you would want the wood that gets to less than 20%mc the quickest. For a faster turn around. Simples.
