Thinning my ash forest at the moment, and was planning on processing them straight away, but was told this evening that this was a bad idea, (he reckoned the logs would go mouldy) and I should stack them in lengths and process them next year. :confused1:

Is he right?

Any ash ive pre processed has never gone mouldy but why do you need to process it now its the best burner however long you leave it - even green!

I think he is mistaken. If yiou leave them in a damp still airless corner then yes they may go mouldy. If you dont then they should dry out very satisfactoraly.

I was planning on processing it in the forest, into a tractor tipper trailer and back to the yard. I dont have a timber trailer/crane and would prefer not have to buy one!
