which processor

Recommended Posts

i have the choice of two processors, posch 280 or hakki pilke 1x37. both similar priced, seen the 1x37 today and thought it was ok, going to see the posch next week but which do you guys thing would be the best to go for.

i think it is down to cutting sytem and max dimeter capacity.

I have the hakki. although it lacks the circular saw it more than makes up for it with the bigger cutting capacity and better value price.

the circular saw will produce less chip (waste?) and probably less maintenance than a bar and chain. but the bar and chain give you a longer cut. being able to run larger diameters thru a processor is not to be dismissed lightly, as steve says above.

You're not exactly comparing like-with-like.

The Posch would be better built but it can only handle straight logs up to 28 cm in diameter using a circular saw while the Hakki Pilke 1X37 can manage 37cm logs with a 16" chainsaw.

Thats my dilemma i have the choice of either so do i go for build quality or size of log

Well i have had my Hakki 2X for 7 or 8 years, it does a fair bit of volume per year, i have had no major problems with it, just had to replace wearing parts every now and then.

I have a hakki pilki 2x now 10 years old its had alot of new parts but then its done alot of work most parts are not to expensive and its easy to work on. I have recently bought 30 chains at £2.76 ea if I get some cord in thats a bit dirty I dont worry about the chains but if I had a nice new tct blade and trashed it would I have a spare ?. The biggest advantage to me of chain is much quieter or at least less annoying to the neighbours.

That sounds to me (the layman...) like a pretty good price for processor chains steve, presumably you can sharpen them too?

looking at £300 + VAT for a new 27" TCT, but they do last for ages
