so its all about the money it would cost to have as a rescue kit, a long roipe, and a 70 pound hitch climber set up a pulley saver with pinto 125 pounds. and a revolver

 

less than 400 quid in total, and good enough to be in competition use!

 

anyone arguing the toss on its practicality is really not thinking clearly IMO

 

An srt setup can cost less than that. srt and footlocking are the most efficient access techniques Tony. In competion people are often awarded points for thinking outside the box!! It doesn't mean it's the best technique

Cool, I'll see you there too! I'll probably be footlocking in to the tree, although I have no idea what the scenario is will be.

 

When you have 5 minutes ticking away, it really shows up any flaws in your system, so whatever you are going to use make sure you are really really familiar with it beforehand, you need to be able to set it up with your eyes closed!

i was playing around with this about 10 years ago, did an artical for treeline about it. i used a rope grab and small pullie instead of the top hitch climber or blakes, then with the addition of a throw line tied to the cam you can retrieve the top system.

tony if you use this system you dont need 400 foot of rope, you install the rope, make the floating pullie, tie on you hitch, pull the pullie up untill you almost run out of rope for your 3:1, climb until you reach the pullie, then sendthe pullie up again:thumbup1: repeat.

everyone keeps calling it a 3-1, but there is only 2 pulleys and four rope lengths?

 

I thought it required 3 pulleys one at the lower end to make 3-1 advantage?
