I'm searching for a comfier helmet than the Husky standard ones I use, I just cant get them to fit right. Im impressed by the comfort of the Petzl's and Stein Plasma stuff, anyone using them on the floor for forestry and/or arb work?

Stein plasma over petzel vertex for me. More comfortable and seems to keep you abit cooler, because the petzel has that foam type liner (not nice) imo.

As for ground use, while im at work after coming down from the tree i use my stein plasma and would reach for that over the petzel climbing lid or the husky groundie lid everytime. (but theres a fair few new ones out/coming out so...)

What do people think about the following points of view?

1) A helmet without a chin strap is useless because it be knocked off.

2) A helmet without a chin strap is worse than useless because not only can it be knocked off but it gives the wearer a false sense of security.

Wrong because your muffs keep it on when your using it.

Still a chance I suppose, but less, and never really thought about a false sense of security :confused1:

Don't get what thats really about chief, but hey ho :001_smile:

When looking up with a standard ground helmet there is an easier chance if it tipping off and it's even easier to be knocked off.

Agreed your muffs hold it in place but a hard enough knock would still bring it off.

I always use a climbing lid. Much comfier than standard ones and I feel the ear defenders have a softer and comfier surround

I don't think I could go back to a ground lid!

Looks like I'm going to get one or the other. The Question now is the new Vent or The Stein Plasma Work AQ?

Sam

That's like asking stihl or husky!

Get whichever fits right. I have a stein with peltor/stihl fittings and mesh visor. Can't get on with the solid one as it scratches up and is awful in the rain!

I have tried a petzl for a day and honestly noticed no real difference.
