Do any of you guys use angle grinders??.

:confused1:

Yep allways use an angle grinder, never had any probs.

Too dodgy

If it grabs you'll catch another blade and the disc might shatter doing you a serious injury..

The grinding discs are about 5-6mm thick never had one of those shatter.

The cutting discs are alot thinner, there the ones that can shatter.

I can show you a few scars.

Grinding with flat blades should only be done in a jig, because you are putting a thick blade into a small gap, at an angle it can and will grab.

Using a flat bladed angle grinder without a jig, is extremely risking and I would not recommend anyone doing it

I suppose it depends on what hedge trimmers they are.

My old stihl ones have a fairly big gap between the teeth so I dont have any problems with those.

My newer stihl hege trimmers (which are garbage btw) have alot narrower teeth so i could see those being a problem like you say, could be abit dangerous. But since they hardly get used I havent had to sharpen them yet.

I use a 4.5 inch angle grinder with a 1.6mm cutting disc to touch up the hedge trimmer blades. ( 1.6mm cutting discs are unfeasably thin you would never think they would work but they are ace , I never use the thick cutting discs)

But remember that if your employees use them you have to be mindful of the provision and use regs and grinding wheel regs too.

I have used the new stihl T AND R versions the engines are always an ass to start they conk out any one else had any problems with these.

Also the ms200t carbs are still 08 crap ??>

Absolutely, my boss just bought the stihl combi system again, engine only(most powerful one) and first days trimming the new 4 stroke special cut out every 2 minutes esp when just getting to the top of the ladder. I then bought the husky combi system for my own business at 100 quid less, lol ,and am well pleased, 2 days use and never stalled once. The trigger's a bit mickey mouse but though. They are so easy to start and really well balanced.
