Axe-throwing!!

Since I tried this at the Arb Fair North, I've really got the bug! Its a cheap sport to start out, only need an axe and a target. I bought a tomahawk at the show to practise with in the garden, set up a basic target and away we go:biggrin:

Anyone else do this? Even competing at a more "pro" level? Tips techniques etc.... discuss

was it hard to manually push the axe in to the bull on that last pic?

Done a bit, double bit, when I was into bows and arrows and things. Try underarm for a bit of fun, its harder than over. I just used to walk round lobbing them into dead standing stuff, was great fun. Get kids doing it, they love it.

I'm thinking get some insurance, set up a range for the have a go's at x amount for five throws, velcro an apple to the bull and then the best split apple wins a cash prize. Also sell axes on the stand.

 

What dy'a reckon to that Andy.....would it work?

Better still, I wonder if Granfors would sponsor it with an axe prize in aid of the Childrens Trust? Competition to Granfors rules, double-bit and tomahawk comps. Axethrowing

Now do we know a site owner who may just have the clout to approach Granfors? Oh and we'd need a large ring of wood just over 3feet dia for the target to be on.
