Had a feeling about this tree for some time now. First glimpsed it driving up the A10 and finally trekked over to see it today. Never did i think i would encounter such a fantastic tree and bracket though.

 

The tree is huge......cannot seem to locate it on the ATF's map so will be going back to measure it and get it logged.

 

My Gano/Phellinus id was never the best and since Gerrit has been on here although he has given good advice as to telling the difference I am still somewhat confused.:confused1:

 

So what is this do you think? I'm going for a stab at Robustus! No.... Adspersum.......Robustus....:confused1:

Final final answer : definite and 100 % Ganoderma australe on pendunculate oak, its favorite feeding "station", on which it often can feast for a long time, without killing or felling the tree.
