Husqvarna 346xp

Hi, just recently bought a brand new 346xp. When i adjust chain correctly, and turn it slowly on bar, it stays at the correct tension apart from one place during the full rotation, where chain drops and goes slack only by 2-3mm, but it is noticeable, then if i continue to rotate chain, it returns to correct tension again, i have checked chain for any tight rivets, has any one else had any similar problems with the 346xp. Wondering if its something bent or off centre somewhere. Anyone know of anything similar? Regards andy

I have just got one not noticed anything on mine but will have a look on monday good little saw so far nice balance very light

maybe put a mark on the chain where it goes slack and see if it's the same place each time. If it is a different place each time, I'd say sprocket/crank related, if the same each time then most likely chain related.

I had an 070 do something very similar to this, turns out it was a bar fault, so maybe swap the bar if you can borrow one and see if it clears the fault, or stick a spare chain on the bar you have

Good advice - it is going to tell you if it is chain related or clutch or bar sprocket or bent crank shaft - good logical fault finding:thumbup:

Have you run the saw?

 

Could be a tight rivet, slight kink in the chain which fits nicely on the sprocket thus giving a little more slack?

 

If so running the saw should free up the rivet.

Buy a spare chain to check against,or run it for a few minutes of gentle cutting to see if it beds in.If it persists take it back to the dealer.

Hi bob, sorry for slow reply, been busy, using the good weather, took it back to supplier, they fitted a new rim sprocket, and it seems to have cured the problem, maybe it was a slightly off centre casting. If left could have caused vibration damage to crank maybe??
