Thank you Janey.

No training schedules or nothing like that.Just 5 or 6 + good books on tree hazard managment, Claus Mattecks books and Shigo, P&D,Fungi books and lots of time in the field looking at and dissecting trees with hazard defects..and reading and absorbing info and applying it to trees i look at.

The 3 day PTI course helps you to write and apply the knowledge you have acquired.

Hi Tony,

Sorry been slack on the forum side of things. Been dropping in and reading the really good threads, nice one!

I am booked in to do the PTI near Bedford with the AA on 21st June-23rd. I will be camping so should work out fairly cheap.

Interested?

Cheers Steve

There is some confusion, originally a refresher course was needed every 5 years, now it seems Lantra will issue new certificates for a fee.

For the first 12-18 months the PTI course ran, Lantra Awards issued training certificates using the same layout/format as those for practical skills training, i.e. chainsaws / tree felling, and hence the 5 year expiry thereby requiring refresher/update training.

However this was inappropriate as PTI is a knowledge based course and the requirement is for ongoing CPD, not retraining, which is down to the individual to sort.

Hence, as mentioned above, Lantra Awards will issue a new certificate with no expiry (not sure if there's an admin fee incurred tho. Tel. 02476 419703).

Cheers..

Paul
