Carving progression

This was my first carving, carved with my 362 15" bar. It sold and so did another 100 or more!

I soon got sick and moved on to seashellls,

Still with the standard bar I was wondering how the other carvers were carving the great stuff i was finding on the net!

Found out about the carving bar, and that was it i was away. Although my stuff was improving i stiil spent a lot of the time improving the carving with the grinder and Arbortech mini grinder.

I also have an electric Bosh chisel which is a nice tool, I dont have one yet but Makita do a straight grinder which you can get all kinds of different bits to use for detailing. I will be buying one but a dremmel i was given will do for now.

I have found that with a lot of practice i am getting better with the saw and the shaping and sanding is getting less. I have been carving part time for two years now and this is where I am at now, still learning but improving.

That's some fantastic work there, especially if you've only been at it for 2 years.

 

Is that castle thing hollow, then? It looks like you could go in through the door and climb up inside to the top.

Thanks, I had to hollow the top out which was tricky the doorway that was the bottom cut, They are thinking of putting a rope ladder up for there two little girls to climb up, I have stressed that the will also need a gate! I was pretty scared myself up there and i'm 44, LOL. Thanks, Tommy
