Lid questions

Went looking for a new lid at the weekend, i'm fancying a change after never having worn anything but the bog standard Husqvarna set up. Tried Vertex vents and the like in the local saw shops but none of them fitted!

Then I found this in an outdoors one:

Grivel Salamander Climbing Helmet - Only £54.95 - Cave and Crag

Is this legit to wear? It's got the CE12492 mark on it - i'm not a climber. Only reason I ask is because the fit was SWEET.

I want to change to something lighter etc and try out the ear plugs and glasses combo some of you wear, but want to be on the right side of the rules too.

Only reference to it I can find for tree work is here:

Grivel Salamander Climbing Helmet - Tree Gear Equipment

Any ideas anyone?

Ta.

Hi mate. I don't know if it is ok to wear that lid or not.

What I do know is, the old vertex is not great fitting. My friend just bought the new one and it is significantly better. Good fit and much more comfortable. Check out Honeys. They had it for the same price as the old vertex.

Cheers BenR it was the new Vertex Vent I tried though. I guess adding ear defenders would keep it clamped in place, but I fancy trying plugs out instead as i'm just getting too hot when working.

Also tried the Altios, Elios, Ecrin Roc, etc. Maybe they did all fit properly, just not how I was expecting - I dunno....

One thing's for sure though I put that Grivel on and the fit was just what I was after!

did you add the extra padding for the new vertex helmet for smaller heads ?? I found the vertex helmet very comfortable.

Grovel make excellent ice climbing crampons and in cold climates I'm sure this helmet will be Ace.

Looking at the only photo, the foam all around the edges of the helmet look like a hot place to be.

Here's a pic of the inside....

Aye it was still pretty wobbly. Spent ages trying to get it right. Like I say maybe it's my idea of how it should fit that's wrong not how it actually does fit.
