HAMPSTEAD HEATH OPEN SPACES DEPARTMENT

 

ARBORICULTURAL OPERATIVE

Full time post, working 37hrs per week.

Salary Grade C starting at £23,594 and rising to £28,615

Inclusive of London Weighting and Contract Hours

 

The City of London is the local authority for the commercial and financial heart of Britain. In addition, the City of London has further responsibilities that include the ownership and management of some 10,000 acres which make up a substantial portion of London’s prestigious Open Spaces.

 

The position will be based at Hampstead Heath. A very unique site which attracts approximately 7 million visitors per year, and incorporates a wide range of wooded environments, counting highway and parkland trees as well as secondary woodland including boundary and Hedgerow Veterans.

 

The opportunity requires a committed Arborist, who is passionate about trees and is looking for a wide ranging job specification that encapsulates the many different aspects of UK arboriculture, particularly specialising in environmental arboricultural practices.

Your duties will include assisting with the management of our trees, to ensure public safety through remedial works, surveying the existing tree stock, Veteran Tree management and monitoring for exotic pests.

Applicants will require a minimum of 2 years practical working experience.

You will need to demonstrate a high level of competence in practical arboricultural works, including proficient tree climbing, crown reduction, dismantling, felling and woodland management techniques. Evidence of NPTC certification to include Cs units, 30, 31, 38 & 39 plus a current UK driving licence are essential for this post.

You will also require experience working with plant, which will include brushwood chippers, tractors and mobile elevated work platforms.
